The taurus dominates the foreground with its head, while its body recedes into the darkness behind. The image plays intensely with light and shadow and with the reflections of dark colours, including in the perspective. Depending on the angle of the viewer, a different taurus appears from the left or right. I think the painting is phenomenal.
