Centaurus

In my painting Centaurus, I explore the dynamics of movement, freedom and inner strength. The wildly rearing horses spring from my interest in archetypes that embody the untamed and the instinctive. Their bodies are modeled with fine lines, almost like drawn energy pathways that could flow onward at any moment.

The watercolor hues in the background – gentle turquoise nuances, shimmering grays and earth tones – serve not only as landscape, but as atmospheric space in which these beings unfold. I wanted to create the feeling that the horses are not standing on solid ground, but floating between several levels: between earthly connection and an almost mythical departure.

The composition is deliberately circular, so that the movements of the animals drive each other, collide and drift apart again – like an eternal dance of power, fighting spirit and balance. The tense musculature, the dissolving lines and the intertwined postures show for me the tension between wildness and vulnerability.

Centaurus is thus less a realistic representation, but rather a metaphor for the restless, simultaneously creative potential that works within us all – a momentum that can break out, reshape itself and continue at any time.
