Archangel Mikail

In this work, I connect the iconic tradition of Christian angels with a contemporary, abstracting visual language. The cool blue and gray tones, interspersed with warm sienna, allow my Archangel Michail to emerge in an atmosphere that appears both still and powerful. Although Michael is regarded in mythology as a protector and vanquisher of evil, I am less interested here in his role as warrior, but rather in his inner attitude of clarity and care. The monumentally formed wings frame him like a breathing protective space; their movement carries his figure and opens the view to a calm, almost more meditative being of this archaic angel. With the slightly lowered eyelids and the gently emerging hand, I want to show Michael as I perceive him: as a watchful, silent presence – a guardian who acts not through power, but through inner strength.
