Archangel Uriel

Archangel Uriel marks for me a powerful step into a new thematic direction. I divided the painting into two contrasting halves to make darkness and light visible as opposing yet interconnected forces. On the left, indigo blue, navy blue and black create an atmosphere of depth, uncertainty and inner struggle. On the right, yellow, ocher and gold tones shine like a breaking horizon, conveying clarity, insight and a warming presence. The bright white and blue tones of the wings connect these two worlds.

In the center stands Uriel, whose aura has always been closely connected for me with light, wisdom and calm. The right, golden wing unfolds far into the warm area, while the left wing is held in cool, almost silvery colors. These different wing zones reinforce the duality that carries the entire work.

In the dark half of the painting, I deliberately created shadowy faces – fragments of human emotions seeking orientation, comfort or support. The vertical lines stand for processes of letting go, passing and renewal. The suggested group of people is meant to make visible the vulnerability, but also the dignity of human existence. The small, floating figure at the top right is for me a moment of movement, a reference to transitions, decisions and unexpected turns.

All these elements together create a painting that represents for me an intense engagement with opposites – dark and light, burden and clarity, standstill and departure.
