Moon Forest Two

In Moon Forest Two, I wanted to breathe new life into this familiar scene. Here, the forest opens up like a gateway between two worlds, permeated by shadows and flowing light. The moon hangs large and soft in the background, a silent observer that bathes everything in an almost mystical tranquillity. The trees appear like figures whispering to each other – each trunk has its own colour, its own mood.

I played intensively with contrasts: between warm orange and cool blue, between glimmers of light and deep darkness. The colours were not meant to depict, but to evoke – the crackling of a nocturnal forest, the vibrant silence. Down on the ground, small islands of colour glow as if the moon had left sparks there. The lines of the branches are deliberately restless, almost dancing, to capture the mysterious energy of the place.

As I painted, I got the feeling of a forest that is both alive and dreamlike. For me, this second version of the Moon Forest series is denser, bolder, full of movement. It depicts the same forest – but in a different mood, on a different night.
