Uncharted Territory

In my work Uncharted Territory, I artistically engage with humanity’s ambivalent relationship to the digital world. The central figure – a stylized, dark silhouette – does not represent myself, but stands symbolically for modern humans who must find their way in an increasingly networked and abstract environment. It sits concentrated before a laptop, an image of searching, working or perhaps even escape into virtual spaces.

The background is a network of geometric shapes, lines and transparent layers – a metaphor for the digital matrix that permeates our lives. The fine structures evoke pixels, data streams or code and create an illusion of depth and infinity. The muted color palette of beige, gray, blue and ocher tones conveys a calm, almost meditative mood, while the contrast to the black figure emphasizes the tension between human and technology.

The stool on which the figure sits, with its organically curved legs, appears like a root – a symbol for rootedness and stability in a constantly changing world. With Uncharted Territory, I invite viewers to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of digitalization: How do we move in this new terrain? And what does it mean to live in a world that appears simultaneously tangible and infinitely new?
